Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Structural Integration

Structural integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body in relationship to the force of gravity. The theory underlying structural integration asserts that often the body's connective tissue is "bound up," thus restricting opposing muscles from working independently of one another. Thus, we aim to loosen the restricted connective tissue by using a practice very similar to deep tissue massage. Practitioners typically prescribe a specific sequence of ten sessions lasting between 75 and 90 minutes in order to "unlock" the whole body.

Myofascial Release & Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy

Myofascial Release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions. It is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches. First, an assessment is made by visually analyzing the human frame, followed by the palpation of the tissue texture of various fascial layers. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction.

Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy is used to relieve muscular pain and dysfunction through applied pressure to trigger points of referred pain and through stretching exercises. These points are defined as localized areas in which the muscle and connective tissue are highly sensitive to pain when compressed. Pressure on these points can send referred pain to other specific parts of the body.

TMJ Session

These sessions specifically target issues with: teeth grinding (Bruxism), jaw clenching, tongue thrusting, pain & dysfunction from misalignment, dental work, traumatic injuries to upper body, chronic headaches & migraines & eye-strain. This is an upper body protocol which involves work from the mid-back up including chest, neck, face, scalp, intra-oral (inside the mouth) & sometimes ocular massage (massage of eye ligaments from outside of eyelid - no direct contact with eye).

45 minute sessions are a great place to start. These sessions focus on areas from the collarbone up; primarily neck, face, scalp, intra-oral (inside the mouth) *Please note 45 minute sessions will not include ocular massage.

60 minute sessions include more of a whole protocol of the description listed above.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Lymphatic Movement

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, lymphatic movement massage can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Sinus Release

Massage strokes applied on and around the face to promote drainage and alleviate congestion, pressure and pain. Also aids the lymph in removing debris, strengthens the immune system and can be an effective alternative to medications used to treat sinusitis & allergy symptoms.

CranioSacral Massage

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress. It has been used to relieve symptoms of tinnitus, vertigo and bell's palsy. This therapy has also been used to aid in trauma healing, PTSD, anxiety and depression. It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. The circulation of this fluid nourishes your central nervous system, your brain & spinal cord, which subsequently effects all systems of the body. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.

Energy Work - Reiki

Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force", and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.
